Maybe I’m alone in this (I’m not, but it sounds dramatic), but have you ever experienced a piece of media that changes your perspective on a theme or genre? From disliking something, to loving it. This is what the Cyberpunk anime did to me. I used to hate the Cyberpunk genre. I thought it was depressing, messy and it made me feel anxious. After watching the anime, I got obsessed. I started not only playing games from the same genre, but I started looking for movies, series, art – the list goes on. It opened a door for me to start appreciating something that I didn’t do before, and once you find something like that…
I mean.. it just feels good!
Recently a game called Mullet Madjack was released, and it’s part of the Cyberpunk genre. Huge neon signs, strong colors, 80’s clothing, wires and technology everywhere. The game is in simple terms – cool as fuck.

In this world, everyone needs adrenaline to live. People watch “snuff” streams of people killing and maiming robots to get their next “fix”, and you’re one of those streamers! Every like and share from the people watching pumps huge dozes of adrenaline into your system, allowing you to keep going. But if your content sucks, you’ll die.
It’s extremely short. The game has you trying to climb a building to rescue your own little “princess Peach”- It’s made up of levels that take about thirty seconds to complete, but if you die you need to restart from the last checkpoint, and you only have ten seconds to live. Don’t worry though, every kill adds some time! After each floor you get to choose an upgrade to help you out, and a handful of different weapons that can be upgraded. It’s a super fast Roguelite, with what I would call “Doom influences”.

I liked this game. It’s unique, but not life changing. To bring it back to my first couple of sentences; Cyberpunk changed my perspective on the genre, this game probably wouldn’t if I played it first. But I got to enjoy this game, because my perspective changed.
If you enjoy the cyberpunk genre, you’ll most likely love this game. It only takes a couple of hours to complete, and it’s a fun, brutal and charming pulp of blood and gore. If you don’t enjoy the genre, you could probably look past it with no regrets.
It’s worth giving a try, and it’s always great to see support for indie companies doing a good job. 7/10!
